Wisdom Teeth Removal

SPOKANE, WASHINGTON

Wisdom teeth, also known as the third molars, are the last permanent teeth to erupt, typically between the ages of 17 and 21. They do not serve much of a purpose, and can, at times, unleash utter chaos in your mouth. We, at MyDentist, are proud to offer cutting-edge technology and sedation options, to safely and comfortably extract your wisdom teeth. You can trust that your smile is in good hands!

Why Extract Your Wisdom Teeth?

Unfortunately, wisdom teeth often cause problems in adolescents and adults. Most people don’t have enough room to accommodate them, which may result in them being impacted, or trapped in the gum or bone tissue. Impacted wisdom teeth can cause immense pain and pressure.

Wisdom teeth often come in at the wrong angle, pressing against the surrounding teeth, and pushing them out of alignment. They can also develop cavities or become infected, which can damage the jawbone and the adjacent teeth. Even if your wisdom teeth feel totally fine, they may have the potential of causing problems and may need removal.

Removal of Wisdom Teeth

We will meet to discuss your upcoming oral surgery and your sedation options. We extract most wisdom teeth with minor to no discomfort with the help of local anesthesia and oral sedation.

After your wisdom teeth extraction, you will have time to recover in our office. We will monitor you and make sure all is going well. We will also provide you with post-operative instructions and will prescribe pain medication for use as needed.

The Healing Process

The healing process begins once your dental surgery is concluded. It will help to keep an ice pack on the area to reduce swelling and relieve any discomfort. Make sure you refrain from smoking, drinking through a straw, rinsing vigorously, or spitting forcefully, That way you’ll avoid dislodging the clot forming in your tooth socket, which can lead to a very painful condition called dry socket.
